MediaTek's hopes of achieving a 10% increase in chip shipments in 2019 are fading. Sources said that although the Helio P70 market released in October had a good response and received orders from OPPO and millet, MediaTek still gave Q4 an expected shipment of 110 million chips, which was the same as the previous quarter. Meanwhile, smartphones began to show weakness in 2018, and next year they face the risk of price reductions and intentional orders being cut.

Looking at the competitors, Qualcomm has already launched the Miaolong 7-Series chip card, which makes the P70 very uncomfortable. At the same time, after the suspension of high-end chips, Qualcomm has a growing voice in the high-end mobile phone market, in addition to the impact from Ziguang Zhanrui.

As the first year of 5G in 2019, Qualcomm is expected to dominate the absolute supply of 5G chips, while Heilio M70 of Mediated Development Section is expected to produce at TSMC by the end of the year.

Data show that in October, the revenue of Mediated Development Section fell 9.8% compared with the previous year, and 0.84% compared with the previous year. The combined revenue in the first ten months also decreased by 0.4% year-on-year.
